Largest white maize shipment from Mexico arrives

Yesterday saw the arrival in South Africa of the largest shipment of white maize for the season from Mexico, report online sources. “We have received 56 019 tonnes of white maize from Mexico, the largest shipment for the 2016/17 marketing season so far,” said Agricultural Business Chamber senior agricultural economist Wandile Sihlobo, quoted by Bloomberg. “The shipment would go a long way to helping South Africa meet its demand for white maize,” he said. Petrol price relief, for now.

  Cape Town – All grades of petrol will cost 51c a litre less from next Wednesday, the Department of Energy announced on Friday. Diesel 0.05% sulphur and diesel 0.005% sulphur will decrease by 75.82c and 73.82c respectively, while liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will decrease by 56.0c/kg, illuminating paraffin (wholesale) by 70c/l, and illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) by 93c/l, the department said in a statement on Friday.
